Kavanagh’s SuperValu in Claremorris, Co Mayo has earned the prestigious title of ‘Best Small SuperValu Store of the Year’ for 2023. The store was one of several finalists from across the country who were nominated for the award at the SuperValu National Conference held at The Great Southern Hotel in Killarney.
During the event, the team from Kavanagh’s SuperValu received their award from Ian Allen, the Managing Director of SuperValu, and JF Michel, the Account Director at Three Business, the sponsors of the competition. With a workforce of over 70 employees, the store actively supports the Claremorris GAA, the local TidyTowns initiative, and the St. Patrick’s Day parade.
This recognition highlights the exceptional standards maintained by the SuperValu store in Claremorris. An independent competition judge and retail consultant, Matthew Brown, assessed and evaluated SuperValu stores throughout the Republic of Ireland based on various criteria such as product range, store presentation, fresh food offerings, sustainability, customer care, and quality and hygiene standards.
Upon receiving the award, Damien Hall, the store manager, expressed his gratitude to the hardworking team and loyal customers: “We are thrilled to be recognized with this award. I would like to thank our dedicated staff for their unwavering commitment and our loyal customer base. As a business, we take pride in delivering exceptional customer service, fresh products, and supporting our local community. This award means a lot to us and our town.”
Ian Allen, the Managing Director of SuperValu, also congratulated Kavanagh’s SuperValu Claremorris and commended their leadership in sustainability, innovative product range, and support for local producers. He wished them continued success in the future.
Matthew Brown, the independent retail consultant and judge, praised the high standards exhibited by all the shortlisted stores, stating that SuperValu is setting a world-class example in fresh food innovation, expert service from butchers, fishmongers, and deli counters, as well as promoting local supplier stories. He commended all the shortlisted stores for their remarkable achievements.
