As a ‘back-to-work’ Mum, I started out with a part time position in the cash office in SuperValu Castlebar. After 2 years I was working fulltime, sharing hours between the cash office and the checkouts. By 2009 I had a full-time position in the store’s cash office. In 2015 I took on the role of Duty Manager. In 2017, I secured a position as an Accounts Assistant and moved to the Kavanagh Group’s Support Office in Westport.

Working at the Kavanagh Group has been very hands on and has allowed me to gain an insight into how the retail business works. I started working for the Kavanagh Group in their Westport store and after 5 months as an assistant in the deli, bakery and meat departments, I was promoted to Trainee Manager. Currently, I’ve relocated to Clifden as part of my training to work alongside the Fresh Food Manager.” This allowed for my promotion as Fresh Food Manager in Super Valu Castlebar. My career continues to grow in the Kavanagh group following a recent promotion to sit as part of the Support Office team over Food Innovation across all stores! This is a really exciting opportunity as it allows me to support and share best practices across all stores from our high quality Fresh Food Offering.

I began working with the Kavanagh Group part-time as a Shop Assistant in the fresh food department whilst studying at university. After university, I applied to enter the management program offered by the group and successfully completed it to attain my current position as Fresh Food Manager.
