O’Connor’s SuperValu in Westport has scooped the prestigious award for Best Seafood in Ireland at the annual Checkout ‘Best in Fresh’ awards. This award acknowledges O’Connor’s SuperValu in their ongoing commitment to delivering an unrivalled fresh fish range at great value prices, while continuing to support Irish suppliers.
The independent judges for the Checkout ‘Best in Fresh’ awards included a team from Customer Perceptions who undertook a number of in-store audits and mystery shops before deciding on the overall winner. Presenting the award, the judges said: “The range of fresh oysters, mussels, lobsters and crabs alone sets O’Connor’s SuperValu apart from other retailers, but the fact that this is backed up by extremely knowledgeable staff, strong evidence of local sourcing and a real understanding of quality, makes it a definite winner…”

The annual awards, hosted by Checkout magazine, recognise retailers for their outstanding contribution to fresh food retailing across the store. Some of Ireland’s most innovative multiples, independent stores, forecourts, deli’s and specialist outlets competed for the awards.
